ORIGINAL – Bridge 61322


About the Art and Artist: Bridge 61322, by Jovan Mendoza, was created in Valley State Prison in June of 2022. He created this painting to explore man-made things, specifically finding interest in the bridge’s contrast against the natural setting. In Jovan’s words, Bridge 61322, quote “serves as a metaphor of the need to advance to the next destination. In my case, freedom”. Jovan’s art was also featured in The Inside Journal in the summer of 2021.

About the Project

The ART Gallery is a virtual exhibition of a few select pieces from Initiate Justice’s Inside Members. This showcase raises funds Initiate Justice, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, working to end incarceration in California by activating the power of the people most directly affected by incarceration.  Artists were compensated for their contributions.  They will continue to receive a portion of proceeds, and have indicated which projects within Initiate Justice they would like their donations to support.  This project is the care of the Inside Membership Committee.  All committees are open to anyone who would like to contribute their time.  Learn more here.
